Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Old Market Business Association (OMBA). OMBA is a voluntary organization of business and property owners working together to better their businesses and the Old Market community. You are invited to attend our general membership meetings held on the first Tuesday of each month from 8:45am to 10:00am at the Embassy Suites Old Market, 10th & Howard (meeting room posted).

Membership Categories

Active Membership in OMBA is open to business owners and property owners located in the Old Market area (either side of 10th to 14th Streets from either side of Leavenworth to Farnam Streets). Associate Membership (non-voting) is open to everyone else including residents of the Old Market. Membership dues for both Active and Associate members are $100 per calendar year. Checks may be mailed to OMBA at PO Box 8733, Omaha, NE 68108-0733.

OldMarket.com Website Benefits

Our official website, OldMarket.com, provides information about the Old Market and area businesses to the world. It can also serve as a major portal to member’s individual website. At no additional charge, member information is featured on the website including: business name listing in up to three appropriate categories, phone numbers, addresses and hours of operation.

OMBA Obectives and Results

The objectives of the OMBA are to promote the general business interests of those operating businesses in the Old Market area and to maintain close ties with the city, law enforcement, and historic preservation agencies. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting promotional programs and publicity, special events, decoration, cooperative advertising, general safety issues, and other joint endeavors as agreed upon by the members.

During 2005, we accomplished a lot. Many of our long-time projects have reached key milestones:

1. We built the foundation for the new www.OldMarket.com that rolled out in November. Now, we are helping individual businesses use www.OldMarket.com as a portal to drive traffic.
2. We conducted our most successful fund-raiser ever with the beer & wine concession at the Playing with Fire concert series. These funds have been used for marketing efforts including the website, Dickens in the Market holiday theme, and other things yet to come.
3. The Historic Walking Tour project was completed with the delivery and installation of bronze plaques on most of the buildings selected for Phase 1.
4. The Sidewalk Directory updates are completed and installed. The downtown map was expanded to include Qwest Center Omaha and the developments north of I-480. More categories are available for listing Old Market businesses.
5. We encouraged the city to expand their annual tree survey. Many red “x’s” have been seen on dead trees. The Residents Association is interested in working with us to get these trees replaced.
6. Perhaps most importantly, we are a voice in City Hall for the needs of the Old Market: snow removal, traffic control, historic preservation, open streets and parking.

Our work is a journey, not a destination; so many of these projects will continue into 2006.
