"Elements" features Baines, Luth, Smith, Wroblewsk...

Four artists explore "Elements" during July. Glass artist Jesse Baines, painter N. Byram Luth, photographer Alan R. Smith and sculptor Pete Wroblewski will host a First Friday opening reception 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013. The show runs July 2 to July 28, 2013.� Glass artist Jesse Baines says, ?I focus on the qualities fused glass brings to me that I can't achieve through other art forms:� rich textures, free form, transparency, and depth.?� Painter N. Byram Luth has created a series of paintings in which she explores ideas about the universe and the elements that make it. Her focal painting was inspired loosely by physics studies of the redshift phenomenon by her cousin Michael Lewis. Photographer Alan R. Smith interprets the ?Elements? theme via surrealism. He says, ?I have always been intrigued by the works of artists like Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, Yves Tanguy, and others, in which they distort ordinary and/or fanciful objects in various ways to create unique perspectives.? � Sculptor Pete Wroblewski focuses on form, movement, color and balance. ?My work is primarily figurative,? he says, ?inspired by subjects that appeal to me from mythology, nature, or, most recently, the interpretation and observation of people and events.? He will have several new bronze pieces in the show.� �
